link the importance of physical activity with life-long endeavors.
Course Outline:
· Fitness
· Cooperative Games
· Invasion Games
· Net/Wall Games
· Target Games
· Striking Games
Grading Policy:
Every class period you have the opportunity to earn 5 points. Each of the following criteria will be worth 1 point:
o Changing into proper physical education attire
Dress: Students should be properly dressed for physical education. Appropriate clothing includes athletic shorts (no cut-offs or jean shorts), wind pants or sweatpants, t-shirts (no tank tops) and sweatshirts. Students must wear sneakers with the laces tied. No other footwear will be permitted on the gym floor.
o Participation
Participation: This point is given to the student if they actively participate in all activities done throughout the period. If a student chooses to sit out at any time during class, they will lose this point.
o Attitude
Attitude: If a student possesses a poor attitude at any time through the duration of class they will lose this point. A bad attitude consists of constant complaining about activity, disrespect towards others, and disrespect towards teacher. A good attitude is approaching every activity with an open-mind, willing to give a full effort.
o Effort
Effort: This point is lost if students do not try to get better at skills that they clearly need work on. Students will not lose this point for being challenged by a skill, but will lose the point if there is no effort to get better at it. Giving up or not trying at all because a student knows they are challenged by a skill will be a major cause of losing this point.
o Skill
Skill: Students are expected to demonstrate the skills taught in class to the best of their ability.
There will also be other assignments and assessments you will be graded on. The point value of these assignments will be shared with you upon distribution. Your final grade will be determined by dividing the total number of points earned by the total number of points possible. It is your responsibility to monitor your class points on PowerSchool.
Absence Policy – Unexcused absences will receive zero points for the day without possible make up. Excused absences will not negatively affect a student’s grade.
